“The name of the Lord will I proclaim: ascribe greatness unto our God! He is the Rock, His work is perfect, for all His ways are righteousness; a God of faithfulness without deceit, Just and right is He!” Deuteronomy 32:3,4
In the changing times of our modern world, what are we to trust in? Within the last 25 years alone many things have changed which alter our view of life. The world, with its changes, has made nothing stable or secure. The world, like the troubled sea, never rests.
But has God changed? He, “who created the heavens and things that are in it, the earth and the things that are in it, and the sea and the things that are in it,…”(Revelation 10: 6), changes not! “For I, the LORD, change not, and you, sons of Jacob, are not consumed.” Malachi 3:6. “Do you not know, have you not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, faints not nor tires? There is no searching of His understanding!” Isaiah 40:28
The Bible has weathered all the efforts of the world to change it, its meaning, and authenticity. The same God, whose Word it is, does not change His Word nor its meaning. The only stability in our postmodern society is to know the One who has spoken to us through His unchangeable Word, the Bible. His Word declares this about us, the human family: “all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23. While we were living in rebellion against the true and living God, our Creator, He (the only source of stability in the universe) was working on our behalf because of His unchanging nature of love. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes on Him, should not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16
How wonderful that the unchanging God, who is “just and right,” should love rebels this much! We deserved the judgement of God, not His love. Yet, “His work is perfect and all His ways are righteousness.” Deuteronomy 32:4 This makes the gift of His Son all the more wonderful! “And we have seen, and testify, that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world.” I John 4:14. We know Him as Jesus, as was declared to Joseph in Matthew 1:21, “and you shall call His name Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sins.” How could this salvation be available to us? “Christ(Jesus) died for our sins, according to the scriptures; and that He was buried; and that He was raised the third day, according to the scriptures.”
I Corinthians 15: 3
How can this salvation be made good to me personally? A man once asked, “What must I do that I may be saved?” The answer is simple, yet profound: “Believe on the Lord Jesus and you shall be saved!” Acts 16:30,31 I’m saved from my sins and what they deserve, only as I put my trust in the only rock of salvation, the Lord Jesus Christ. Don’t be like those who gave up God, who made them, and lightly esteemed the rock of their salvation.” cf. Deuteronomy 32:15
He, the Lord Jesus, has become “to all that obey Him, author of eternal salvation..”
Hebrews 5:9 Yes, He can be your Savior today, and you can experience the stability of being on the solid rock - “the Rock of ages.” Isaiah 26:4
